With the weather remaining pretty cool, you may be asking yourself what kinds of activities you can get up to this Family weekend and into next week. Although this past week has been the coldest we’ve experienced this winter, it’s nothing new for Saskatchewan and several events taking place around the province are still a go!
One of the biggest events taking place this weekend is free fishing! February 13-15 you can fish around the province without a license. This includes fishing in open water as well as ice fishing. If you are planning on taking part and trying to catch your supper there are still a few regulations that apply:
There are also many events and festivals continuing around the province, this year with a virtual spin. Festivals like the Prince Albert Winter Festival which kicked-off on February 5, and more.
It’s also a great weekend to get outside and take in all the natural beauty of Saskatchewan. Visit the Saskatchewan Trails Association for GPS coordinates, safety guides and all the trail information you need to find the perfect spot near you!
And of course, Sunday is Valentine’s Day. If you’re in the Saskatoon area, treat yourself and your loved ones to the Nutrien Fireworks Festival Valentine’s Special and kick-off to family week Saturday night!
Carrying on into Sunday, give yourself the day off from your usual kitchen routine and try one of these great restaurants for a special Valentine’s day meal that’s sure to please.
Valentine’s specials aside, there are many excellent restaurants throughout the province who have gone above and beyond for their customers with delivery, take-out and curbside pickup that are sure to make this Valentine’s Day one to remember.
Whatever you choose, cold weather or not, it’s sure to be a great weekend and week ahead!
