Four Experiences Your Mom will Love for Mother’s Day

May 3, 2022

Nearing Mother’s Day, has your mom ever said, “you don’t have to get me anything!”  Public service announcement to all the kids out there: it’s a test. Get your mom something. Now, I know what you’re thinking… flowers, chocolates, a card. While all gifts are fabulous gifts and of course, it’s the thought that counts, why not spice it up with an experience your mom will treasure forever?

All moms want one thing – more time with their kids. And speaking as the daughter of a wonderful mother, I know that it’s less about the things, and more about making memories. Reminiscing about the good old days and belly laughing about our favourite silly jokes just never gets old.

So, to the sons and daughters – are you needing some inspiration for Mother’s Day? I’ve got you! And don’t worry, you’ll have fun, too! Here are four experiences to gift your mom this year:

1- Bring out Your Inner Chef

Elevate your culinary skills with a class! Whether you try a new cuisine, sharpen your kitchen skills, or just simply want someone else to plan your dinner, this is always a win with mom! Schoolhaus Culinary Arts offers in-person or virtual classes and a range of dietary cooking options such as gluten free or vegan meals. So, put on that apron and pick up a knife and get cookin’!

2- Sculpt a one-of-a-kind Piece

Feel like being creative? Get your hands dirty, learn to use the wheel, and sculpt your very own mug out of clay! Char’s Webb in Regina gives you the opportunity to get messy, have fun, and express yourself. Don’t worry, no experience is required (plus, moms love all art projects from their kids, right?).

3- Sweat it out

Want to get those endorphins pumping? Try a fitness class together! Oxygen Yoga and Fitness offers an array of classes for multiple fitness levels such as “Hot Cardio Fever” or “Hot FitFlow”. Since you’ll be working up an appetite, pick up a cinnamon roll at Cinnaholic to celebrate you’ve survived your sweat sesh!

4- Immerse Yourself in Art

Spend an evening creating your own artwork. From an array of mediums and canvasses, the world is your oyster on this one. With so many options out there, it’s easy to find something both you and your mom will love. Justine Marie Studios offers an array of workshops in multiple locations including Regina, Saskatoon, and Moose Jaw. Or, go a more traditional route with a classic Paint Nite!

Remember, experiences will give your mom memories that will last much longer than a bouquet of flowers. But regardless of how you choose to spend the day, make sure you shower your mommas with love!
