St. Patrick’s Day is always a popular time in Saskatchewan, the snow is (usually) beginning to melt and people leave their winter caves and head to their favourite pubs for the day. But before we get into where you can go for St. Patrick’s Day this year, let’s chat about what exactly we’re celebrating on March 17!
St. Patrick’s Day, as many people don’t know, is a celebration of the day that the patron saint of Ireland passed away. It began as a day that was mainly celebrated as an Irish holiday, but has since become extremely popular in North America and many Canadians flood the streets and pubs on March 17. Saskatchewanians look forward to it as a day where they can toss on their green (and white) Rider gear, gather their friends, and head out for a Guinness or two or whatever their drink of choice is.
With so many pubs and lounges in Saskatchewan, many people have a tough time deciding which one to go to for the day. Don’t fret, we’re here to help! Here’s a list of some of the Irish pubs in Saskatchewan where you can plop down, grab a drink and some grub, and celebrate this great day.
Regina
Shannon’s opened in the Cathedral area of Regina at 2118 Robinson Street in 2014, serving great Irish food and drinks such as Fish and Chips, Guinness Stout Beer, and Jameson’s Irish Whiskey. Opening at 11:00 am, Shannon’s would be a great place to start your day with some lunch and a pint.

One of the most famous Irish pubs in the province, O’Hanlon’s is in the downtown area of Regina at 1947 Scarth Street. With a food menu that includes Irish Nachos, Guinness Stew, and Bangers & Mash, you’ll be sure to crush your appetite here. Also featuring 42 taps, you can choose from many craft beers or old favourites to enjoy with your meal.
PS: O’Hanlon’s also features a ‘Guinness Club’ where you can collect a stamp for each pint of Guinness (2 per day) until each day of the week is full, when you’ll then receive a free pint of Guinness, a t-shirt, and a limited-edition pint glass.
Saskatoon
Another top Irish pub in Saskatchewan is O’Shea’s located in the downtown area of Saskatoon at 222 2nd Avenue South. Loaded with Irish favourites such as Shepherd’s Pie, Traditional Irish ‘Bap’, and Irish Nachos, O’Shea’s will satisfy all your cravings. Stop in for lunch for a great meal and a famous green beer on St. Patrick’s Day.
Situated in the Park Town Hotel in Saskatoon, Finn’s Irish Pub is a great spot to get together with friends and enjoy one of the many beers from their menu that spans from local lagers and ales to imported brews. Finn’s also has specialities such as Irish Chicken Pot Pie and Shepherd’s Pie. Unwind before your work week with Finn’s 7 HD TVs, dart boards, and interactive games!
