Leaving a place you’ve called home for a number of years can be a bittersweet experience. Along with the people, it’s sometimes the local businesses that you find yourself attached to. I’ve grown to love the people, the culture, and the places that make Saskatchewan so special.
As I prepare to leave, there are a few shops and eateries that I know I will miss greatly. Here are just a few:
The first place that comes to mind is Tangerine, the Food Bar in Regina. This cozy little eatery is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood and has been my go-to spot for morning coffee runs, weekend brunches and business lunches. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff always have a smile on their face and often greet you by name. The smell of freshly brewed coffee and homemade food fills the air, and I will definitely miss starting my day with a cup of Tangerine’s delicious coffee.
Another place that I will miss is Poached Breakfast Bistro in Saskatoon. This trendy restaurant is known for its inventive brunch dishes, eggs benedict, omelets, and house-made creations along with its vibrant atmosphere. At Poached, I feel like I’m part of the local scene in Saskatoon. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the food is fantastic. From the Eggs Benedict to the Avocado Toast, every dish at Poached is a work of art.
Dutch Cycle in Regina is a place that holds a special place in my heart. This unique shop specializes in quality bicycles and accessories, and it’s the perfect place to browse and buy a new bike or that needed accessory. When I walk through the door at Dutch Cycle, I feel like I’m stepping into a familiar place. The shop is filled with vintage bicycles, all kinds of accessories, and beautiful bicycles that are both functional and stylish. The staff is highly knowledgeable and absolutely friendly and welcoming.
Caraway Grill in Regina is another place that I know I will miss. This elegant Indian restaurant is known for its warm ambiance, attentive service, and mouth-watering Indian cuisine. Every time I visit Caraway Grill, I feel like I’m transported to a different part of the world and become part of the Caraway family. The aromas of cumin, coriander, and turmeric fill the air, and the flavors are always bold and vibrant. Best Indian food I’ve had in any city.
Finally, Colin O’Brian Menswear in Regina is a place that I know I will miss. This family-owned and operated shop has been a fixture in Regina for over 20 years. When I visit Colin O’Brian Menswear, I feel like I’m part of a tight-knit community. The staff is always pleasant and knowledgeable, and they take the time to get to know their customers. The selection of suits, shirts, and ties is unparalleled, and I will miss browsing the racks and trying on different styles.
Leaving Saskatchewan will be difficult, but I know that the memories and experiences I’ve had here will stay with me forever. These places played an important role in my time in SK, and they will always hold a special place in my heart. I will miss the people, the culture, and the places that make Saskatchewan so unique, but I am grateful for the time I’ve had here.
