Rider Season is More than Just Football

June 11, 2018

“Not in numbers but in unity that our great strength lies.” – Thomas Paine

Truer words have never been spoken when it comes to Saskatchewan. While we are known for many things; wheat, potash, cold winters, being a heavily populated province is not a tool in our Pilsner green belts. But numbers aren’t everything. One of our most notable qualities is our pride for the province we are so fortunate to call home. And nothing brings out our pride better than cheering on our Saskatchewan Roughriders.

CFL season is upon us and the Riders kick off their regular season this Friday, June 8 at Mosaic Stadium! If you’ve never been to a game, here are a few things you can expect:

1. A sea of green everywhere you look.

It doesn’t get better than dawning your team colours in support of something you love. Don’t have any game day apparel? Don’t sweat it, The Rider Store has you covered!

2. Non-stop cheering.

It doesn’t matter how young or old, Rider fans of all ages are loud and proud!

3. Community involvement.

From kids’ teams to school choirs to local SK businesses, every game boasts unwavering support from and for communities across the province. We at Directwest are a proud sponsor of the Roughriders, check out the Maxtron during breaks in the game to learn more about how we can help you!

4. Traffic.

Lots of fans means lots of traffic! Parking on site is by permit only and street parking is available on a first come-first serve basis. If you don’t feel like driving, there are other options available to you:

  • Bike – Mosaic Stadium offers a fully secured bike valet on game days. The service is located outside of gate #1, is free and begins two hours before the gates open!
  • Rider Transit – presented by WorkSafe Saskatchewan, Rider transit begins two hours and fifteen minutes before kickoff with pickup and drop-off locations at: Southland MallNorthgate MallVictoria Square Shopping CentreNormanview Crossing, the Delta Hotel and Victoria Park. Buses depart for the same locations up to an hour post game.
  • Taxis – whether you’re looking for an easy ride to the game or making the safe choice for post-game, taxis are a great way to round out your game day plans!

Like us all, the Roughriders strive to inspire pride, be good role models, do good for fans, and be a team worth supporting. As Saskatchewan’s local advocate, we believe our province thrives when we support each other. Whether you are an old fan or new, a die-hard, a part-timer, or an at home spectator, when the time comes…

WE ALL BLEED GREEN.
